My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.[a] (Proverbs 3 vs 11-12)
How many of you got licks when you were a little child from your parents? I am sure that all of you will raise your hands.By: binu kumar
Now just because your parents gave you licks does that mean that they hated you and they wanted the worst for you?
No way. They disciplined you because they loved you and they didn’t want you doing the wrong things because the wrong things can lead you to the wrong path which could lead you in places that would hurt you. Your parents loved you so they disciplined you.
In the same way we need to realize that God loves us and there are times when we are going down the wrong path and he needs to discipline us so that we could stay on the correct path.
No true parent could say they love their child and not be concerned if they are in the wrong path of life. They will obviously try their best to get them on the straight and narrow path.
When you are disciplined by the Lord, you should accept it with joy because the Bible says that the Lord disciplines THOSE HE LOVES!!!!’
Now I don’t know about you but I think it is a great honor to know that you are loved by God. Click To Tweet Knowing that God loves me and doesn’t want me in areas that could probably send me to hell is a nice feeling to have that he is watching over me.
David said in Psalms 139 vs 23-24 (Message Translation) Investigate my life, O God,
find out everything about me;
Cross-examine and test me,
get a clear picture of what I’m about;
See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—
then guide me on the road to eternal life.
When we pray a prayer like that, we are asking God to show us what is wrong in our lives and to guide us into doing the right thing.
